Dutch Baby Pancakes (Ready in 20 Mins!)


Dutch Baby Pancakes are a simple but indulgent breakfast!

Baked in a preheated cast-iron skillet, these pancakes perfectly puff up around the edges creating the perfect hollow for fresh berries, syrup, Nutella, or powdered sugar.

What is a Dutch Baby?

A dutch baby is also called a German pancake, and it is made with a thin batter that is poured into a preheated skillet (preferably cast iron!). As it bakes, it will puff up around the edges and the center remains flat.

It’s a real showstopper and is surprisingly simple to make!

Delicious Variations

We are big breakfast lovers, and this Dutch Baby is always a hit with the family! It is a light and fluffy pancake with puffed edges perfect for adding your favorite toppings after it comes out of the oven.

However, if you’re wanting to experiment a little, here are a few ways to jazz it up before it hits the pan:

  • Add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Swap the vanilla extract for almond, caramel, maple, you name it!
  • Use whole wheat flour in place of the all-purpose for a healthier breakfast
  • Stir in fresh chopped herbs and Parmesan cheese after blending for a savory twist, or even top it with a fried egg!

How to Make a Dutch Baby

Don’t let this simple dutch baby pancake recipe fool you, this delicious breakfast treat tastes anything but simple!

  1. Preheat oven and skillet.
  2. Whip (or blend) all ingredients together.
  3. Remove the hot pan from the oven, melt butter directly in the pan, then add batter.
  4. Quickly place it back in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.

Serve hot right from the skillet with your favorite fruit, syrups, or toppings. Strawberry sauce or blueberry sauce are great additions, especially with some homemade whipped cream!

Tips for the Perfect Dutch Baby Pancake

  • Preheat the skillet! Preheating is necessary to get that beautiful rise on the dutch baby.
  • A cast iron is nice, but not necessary. You can use any 9-10″ oven-safe skillet. My skillet is 10″, but for extra high edges, choose a 9″ skillet.
  • For a smooth batter, the blender, an immersion blender, or a food processor is the best way to eliminate lumps. It’s also the easiest (and easiest on the arms!), so I say why not? If you don’t want to get the blender out, you can always use a whisk.

  • Add eggs, flour, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt to a blender and blend until smooth (or whisk until smooth).

  • Set batter aside. Place a 9″ or 10″ skillet in the oven and preheat to 425°F.

  • When the oven is hot, remove the pan (it will be hot!) and add two tablespoons butter, swirling to melt.

  • Pour batter into pan and immediately place back in the oven.

  • Bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed at the edges and golden.

  • Serve as desired.

We love peppermint bark… add in some pretzels to make them next level!

All you need for these candies is a handful ingredients and then a quick prep!

These are perfect for the kids to help out and get into the holiday spirit! Put out some bowls of sprinkles, jimmies, mini chips, toffee pieces, or even chopped nuts, and let everyone decorate their own!

One of our favorite things about this recipe is how easy it is!

PRETZELS A bag of bite-sized pretzels is called for but feel free to use pretzel twists or other shapes and sizes of pretzels.

PEPPERMINT KISSES White candy cane kisses are delicious but you really can make these with any kind of kisses (or chocolates).

MILK CHOCOLATE Dipping chocolate and some crushed peppermint candies make are perfect for dipping pretzels. Dark chocolate can be substituted as well!

How to Make Peppermint Bark Pretzel Bites

  1. Place pretzels on a baking sheet and top with peppermint kisses. Bake just enough to soften per recipe below.
  2. Top each square with another pretzel and cool.
  3. Melt chocolate in microwave and dip each pretzel into melted chocolate.
  4. Sprinkle on jimmies, crushed nuts, or peppermint candies.

PRO TIP: No melting wafers? Use semi-sweet chocolate chips with a ½ teaspoon of shortening or coconut oil.

Peppermint Bark Pretzel Bites

This easy holiday treat is made with pretzels, peppermint kisses, dark chocolate, and crushed peppermint candy. They’re sweet, minty, and salty!

  • Preheat the oven to 200°F.

  • Place 40 pretzels on a baking sheet and top each with a peppermint kiss, bake for 5 minutes.

  • Remove from the oven and immediately press a pretzel on top of each of the kisses and allow to cool.

  • Once they have set, melt the chocolate wafers on 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.

  • Dip each of the pretzel bites in the chocolate and place on parchment paper to set. Sprinkle with the crushed peppermint candies before the chocolate has set.

If you don’t have melting wafers, you can use chocolate chips instead and add ½ teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable oil to it.
Store in a cool area in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Easy Snickerdoodle Recipe (Ready in 30 Minutes!)


Loaded with cinnamon sugar, snickerdoodles are the perfect holiday treat! 

This snickerdoodles recipe makes a soft, thick cookie with a cinnamon-sugar coating. They’re delicious any time of year.

What is a Snickerdoodle

A snickerdoodle is a soft and chewy cinnamon sugar cookie with a lovely cracked surface and the unusual addition of cream of tartar.

Cream of tartar is actually a byproduct of wine production and adds a subtle tart flavor to these delicious cookies!  You can find it online at Amazon or in the baking or spice aisle of most grocery stores.

How to Make Snickerdoodles

These cookies are made in a traditional way like most cookies.

  1. Cream butter, sugar, and eggs (recipe below)
  2. Add dry ingredients
  3. Roll into balls and roll in cinnamon sugar

Bake the snickerdoodles until the edges just start to brown. You do not want to overbake them.

To make snickerdoodles without Cream of Tartar you’ll want to substitute it. Some people suggest things like vinegar or lemon juice. As with all baking, keep in mind that any alterations to a recipe can change the texture and quite possibly the flavor of the cookie.

In this recipe, use 2.5 teaspoons of baking powder and skip both the cream of tartar and the baking soda.  (Baking powder is made of baking soda and cream of tartar and a bit of cornstarch).

To Make Ahead

Snickerdoodles can be made ahead of time and frozen. Prepare as directed and cool completely. Once cooled, place in freezer bags and freeze up to 4 months.

  • With mixer on medium, combine sugar, butter and eggs. Stir in flour mixture.
